The Crack Propagation Trend Analysis in Ceramic Rolling Element Bearing considering Initial Crack Angle and Contact Load Effect

چکیده

Silicon nitride ceramic bearings are widely used for their excellent performance. However, due to special manufacturing method, cracks will occur on ball surface, and this initial surface crack propagate under the action of cyclic stress, which lead material spalling. This greatly limit its service life in practical applications, especially heavy load at high speed. Therefore, it is necessary study propagation silicon bearings. In paper, effect angle contact growth analysed by finite element method (FEM). A three-dimensional model a bearing containing an created FEM. The initially classified based between location most dangerous each type known theoretical analysis. stress intensity factors (SIFs) calculated front investigate position growth. Subsequently, SIFs subdivided again propagation.

Analysis of Surface Crack Growth under Rolling Contact Fatigue

Understanding the fatigue crack growth phenomenon in railheads requires a study of driving forces such as the crack tip opening and sliding displacements, under repeated rolling contact. Finite element simulations, allowing elastic-plastic deformation, and mixed-mode crack growth laws were utilized to demonstrate that the fatigue crack growth rates display a minimum after a finite amount of cra...

Propagation of Crack in Linear Elastic Materials with Considering Crack Path Correction Factor

Modeling of crack propagation by a finite element method under mixed mode conditions is of prime importance in the fracture mechanics. This article describes an application of finite element method to the analysis of mixed mode crack growth in linear elastic fracture mechanics. Crack - growth process is simulated by an incremental crack-extension analysis based on the maximum principal stress c...

Effect of Crack Blunting on Subsequent Crack Propagation

Theories of toughness of materials depend on an understanding of the characteristic instabilities of the crack tip, and their possible interactions. In this paper we examine the effect of dislocation emission on subsequent cleavage of a crack and on further dislocation emission. The work is an extension of the previously published Lattice Greens Function methodology[1, 2, 3]. We have developed ...
